London Love Affair
Lalomie Washburn

London Love Affair
Digital download: 31 Aug 1996
In early 1991 Lalomie came to stay in London with her old friend Chaka Khan. She met with publisher James Little at Sony Music. She was looking for co-writers and James put her together with Mike McEvoy. They soon came up with a floor filler of a tune called ‘Try My Love’ that became an underground hit during the Rare Groove revival taking place in London at the time. Lalomie and Mike went on to write this album together.
The music was produced and arranged by Mike and engineered by Alex Osman and Oisin Little at Boogie Back Studios, London, U.K. Most of this material was first released in 1996 on a German label called Soulciety, although these mixes have been updated with additional production and re-mastering. Lalomie Washburn sadly passed away in 2004, but this collection is a testament to her enduring funkiness, uniquely soulful lyric writing and sassy singing voice – all spiced with a joy for life and love.
