The Jazz Sapiens is a thrilling new collective made up of London's finest jazz musicians. Between them, they have played with a Who’s Who of leading contemporary music artists including Incognito, John McLaughlin, Gregory Porter, Steve Winwood, Laura Mvula and The Brand New Heavies.

 

The band came together to record music for the Peabody Award-winning documentary, The Jazz Ambassadors. The original score, composed by Michael J McEvoy, was inspired by events that took place during the civil rights movement, when African American musicians were sent overseas by the US State Department to perform in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

 

Recorded live over two days with expanded arrangements by Mike and saxophonist, Paul Booth, this eclectic and soulful album also features Kevin Robinson, Mark Mondesir, Tom Walsh, Karl Rasheed Abel, Freddie Gavita, Graeme Blevins, Richard Henry and Robbie Harvey.

This soulful and fully live orchestral production brims with classic 1960s and ‘70s Latin-jazz vibes. Featuring drummer extraordinaire, Richard Bailey (Jeff Beck, Incognito, Steve Winwood) and the horn and woodwinds of Latin-jazz band, Trypl (Paul Booth, Trevor Mires, Ryan Quigley), the song is produced and arranged by Michael who also performs keyboards, guitars, bass and vocals.

 

Sweet backing vocal support comes from Jasmine Duxbury and the song was mixed by Eli Thompson in Dolby Atmos at Studio One, Olbys Creative Hub, Margate, Kent.

John Reid pays it forward with new single I.O.U.

Digital single, I.O.U., is another co-write with soul and funk outfit Michael J McEvoy and Ernie McKone (of Boogie Back Records fame).

 

I.O.U. is a slinky, mid-tempo floor filler with the same 80s vibe that proved so popular on John Reid’s Soul Sessions Vol 1. This classy old-school production features John’s smooth and soulful vocals complemented by lush backing vocal arrangements, slap bass, and funky horns courtesy of Horn House.

Rezzonator Music announces an exciting new release from blue-eyed soul man and Nightcrawlers’ vocalist, John Reid. The digital single, Light Up My World is the first track from the Scots singer’s new collection, Soul Sessions Vol. 2, the follow-up to his stunning debut solo album, Nightcrawlers Soul Sessions Vol. 1 in 2018. John is best known for legendary 90s club anthem, Push the Feeling On, a recent smash hit remix with Big Narstie. Behind the scenes at The X Factor, he went on to write number one hits for stars Kelly Clarkson and Leona Lewis, A Moment Like This and Westlife’s Unbreakable, plus chart-topping songs for Il Divo, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart and Keith Urban.

Light Up My World was co-written with Michael J McEvoy and Ernie McKone (of Boogie Back Records fame).
